Overview
A client in the film production industry faced a critical obstacle: the vehicles they had temporarily imported into South Africa could not be registered for road use due to regulatory restrictions — despite their essential role in ongoing and future productions.
The restriction made transportation between film sites logistically complex and financially burdensome. Standard channels offered little recourse, and several appeals had already been denied.
The Breakthrough
After a series of submissions and a carefully structured final appeal referencing legislative provisions and operational needs, ITAC removed the restrictions on the import permits — officially allowing all three vehicles to be registered and used on public roads.

Important Context
This approval was granted specifically to the client involved, after a detailed case-by-case assessment by ITAC. The waiver was based on unique industry use and did not alter the broader regulatory framework — which remains tightly controlled for second-hand vehicle imports.
